Week 8

May 25, 2018

This week we created a finished printing a new puzzle, the Watermelon (shown in figure 1). The Watermelon puzzle is a sphere with a 5 cm radius. The puzzle has a total of 14 pieces. It is made of two 7 piece hemispheres that attach to each other at the flat faces.

We also applied the resin to the surface faces of the Watermelon puzzle and finished adding the magnets. We still have to prime the surface of the puzzle and paint.

In addition, we also finished printing all 12 pieces of the 20 x 8 x 6 cm bus puzzle. The pieces were sanded down to allow them to fit together smoothly. The puzzle bus has a total of 83 magnets, so we will be needing to purchase more magnets. You can see the printed bus puzzle below in figure 2 (one piece has not been printed yet).

The painting of the cube also began this week, with the team purchasing spray paints. Pieces were taped individually and sprayed for exact lines.
